Andradite on Hedenbergite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Please note that this specimen was mistakenly labeled as Spessartine, but I think all of these Garnets have been confirmed as Andradite. A few sharp, well-formed, orange-red colored dodecahedra of Andradite measuring up to 5 mm sitting on greenish-brown Hedenbergite matrix. No damage on the top / display side of the piece, and the crystallization of the Hedenbergite is excellent up close. Beautiful classic material from this well-known locality in the Aegean Sea. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11546). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
