Andradite-Grossular Garnet Series (fine quality)

These excellent Garnet crystals are typically labeled as the Andradite-Grossular Series. This is due to the fact their chemistry will vary from calcium to calcium/iron content, sometimes within the same crystal. The pieces from the Koukouri Diggings are rare, and any Garnet crystals that measure nearly 2 inches with this kind of quality are certainly hard to find from most world localities. This nearly full-sized miniature specimen is excellent and frankly fairly large example of these now well-known and fine quality Garnets from Mali featuring a sharp, lustrous, dark brown-black colored dodecahedral crystal with a few secondary smaller Garnets growing on the back. The piece is largely complete all the way around, but there is a small separation mark on the base that keeps it from being a true "floater". These came out years ago, and are rarely seen on the market these days.
