Item Description
A stunning, sharp, large mottled yellow-green grossular garnet crystal is dramatically perched on a stalk of smaller crystals. The impressive, sharp, glassy, highly lustrous, partially translucent, textbook dodecahedron is 5.3 x 4.8 x 4.1 cm. Analysis confirms that the yellow-green garnets from the 1990s to 2000s finds in Mali are predominately Grossular in the Andradite-Grossular Series. See the 2011 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 42, No. 3. An outstanding and pristine 360-degree garnet specimen from a less well-known area of the Kayes Region of Mali. Yellow-green garnets of this hue are uncommon from here.
