Andradite Garnet (very rich)

This well-known skarn deposit, near famed Dalnegorsk, is noted for superb andradite garnet specimens and this is an outstanding and very rich large example. Striking, gemmy, highly lustrous, honey-brown andradite garnets with a green tint and flashes of yellow gemminess totally cover the front of the 3-dimensional matrix and part of the back of the specimen, which is essentially solid andradite. The dodecahedrons reach 1.5 cm on this most impressive specimen, that has two very fine display views. From early 1990s finds, pieces of this size, richness and quality are seldom on the market today. Ex Mayer Collection.
