Item Description

The first of these pieces appeared on the market in 2005. Our friends overseas tell us that a small pocket is found every year or so. These specimens are certainly some of our favorite Andradite / Demantoid Garnets from almost anywhere. When it comes to Demantoid most people don't think about it coming from Afghanistan, as it's more typically associated Demantoid with either Russia, Italy or the recent Madagascar. This is a nice miniature featuring sharp, lustrous, translucent, mint green dodecahedral crystals measuring up to 3 mm on white Chrysotile on matrix. I want to point out that these crystals actually display a color change from a "mint green" color to a rich "lime green" in different lighting.
