Item Description

This specimen was collected by a good friend of ours in Greece in 2019. It hails from the little known skarn deposit called Kimmeria near the town of Xanthi in northeastern Greece. I've seen only a handful of these over the years. This is the first specimen of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions and it features dozens of very sharp, lustrous, well-formed dodecahedral crystals of dark bronze colored Andradite Garnet measuring up to 5 mm on host rock matrix. No other species appear to be present. Nearly all of the crystals are undamaged (save some around the edges) and the little ones actually show a good internal color when backlit. If you collect worldwide Garnets or if you're a fan of Greek minerals, don't miss out on this one, as they are rarely available on the market.
