Item Description

These specimens were found in early 2022, and are some of the most attractive Garnets to come out of Afghanistan. The color is unlike anything we've seen from any locality in the country, but we don't know specifically where they were found, it's either likely from somewhere in Khost or Ghazni. This piece hosts a sharp, lustrous, well-formed, dodecahedron measuring 2.5 cm across with a light greenish-yellow hue (more of a golden tone on the lower half) sitting on matrix. A few additional incomplete Andradite crystals can be seen as well. It's rare to find Garnet crystals this size from anywhere in Afghanistan, and we don't know if this discovery will yield more material, so if you're a Garnet collector be sure to pick this one up, as it's certainly a different style and color than what has been found in the past.
