Item Description

From this newly exploited skarn zone in remote Inner Mongolia, here we have a freshly mined andradite garnet specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, translucent, olive-green color "stepped" dodecahedra. The largest andradite crystal measures 1.4 cm across. This mine is already known for producing some incredible ilvaite and manganoan calcite crystals, and if the andradites and a few other species improve a little, we will see some very interesting and eye-catching associations. If you"re a garnet collector, be sure to pick one of these up for your collection, as it just came out of the ground a few months ago! The broken crystals interestingly reveal the layered growth and color variations of the andradite.
