Item Description

A stellar large cabinet display specimen of these limited, but superb quality Andradite Garnet specimens from the famous Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit. This piece was mined in 2011 when some of the best specimens were found along the skarn contact at the deposit. This piece is loaded with large, robust, razor-sharp, highly lustrous, dark golden-brown dodecahedral crystals intergrown to create a fantastic big crystallized "mound" free of matrix. Individual crystals measure up to 3.4 cm across. Interestingly, the underside of the piece reveals more of a greenish hue to the Andradite crystals. There is actually a bit of iridescence on the surface depending upon the light in which the piece is view. This hefty cluster is in superb condition, and I can only see two contacts on the back (not visible when displayed), which is remarkable for the material. Excellent size, quality and overall aesthetics. A must have for any fan of Chinese minerals or worldwide Garnets. Priced in our inventory at $4,500.
