Item Description
Here we have a rarely seen example of iridescent Andradite Garnet from Mexico. These stones are usually brown in color, and show a resinous, amber-like luster. What really sets them apart from other Garnets is that they are not completely transparent, and actually show attractive iridescent flashes on the surface when they're rotated in the light. You might see these gems marketed as "Rainbow Garnet". This cabochon cut stone has a golden hue, which is a rich orange-gold color when backlit, but in reflected light, you can see an almost "cat's eye" effect, showing bright iridescent flashes of an almost metallic yellow, golden-orange and green color. A cool esoteric gem that would make a nice addition to a Garnet suite.
