Item Description

Arizona is more commonly associated with its colorful secondary ore minerals, but the Santa Teresa Mountains area have produced completely different minerals, which are equally as beautiful. The famous and highly distinctive Andradite Garnet from the Stanley Butte Area are some of the most distinctive examples of any Garnet species with their unique color and iconic form. This piece is a wonderful small cabinet specimen loaded with dozens of very sharp, lustrous, well-formed dodecahedral crystals measuring up to 7 nm across, with a unique olive green hue that has an almost metallic sheen on the surface. The front / display side of the piece is largely undamaged and has good sculptural quality, with an eye-catching "knob" of crystals. A showy and fine example of this classic material.
Ex Les Presmyk (De Natura) specimen.
