Andradite Garnet and Hedenbergite ex Jack Halpern Collection

Absolutely classic for Serifos Island, this is a wonderful example of the Andradite Garnet on Hedenbergite combination which is famous dating back hundreds of years. The sharp, dodecahedral Andradite crystals, averaging 6 mm across, have a silky luster and appealing reddish color in which the darker, richer-colored edges accentuate the finely-stepped faces. These Garnets sit on a matrix composed entirely of slender, prismatic, greenish Hedenbergite crystals, some of which extend up through the layer of Andradites. This is a very fine, aesthetic miniature from this famous locality.
