Andradite Garnet

Item Description

A wonderful small cabinet sized specimen featuring a coverage of fine quality, sharp, lustrous, deep reddish-brown colored Grossular crystals measuring up to 1.4 cm across. The crystals are predominantly dodecahedral in habit, with small trapezohedral modifications. If you look closely, there are dozens of thin, prismatic, blue-grey colored crystals of an unknown Pyroxene or Amphibole species on the piece as well. This is a very nice specimen for the locality, with good form and aesthetics. These Andradites seemingly have dried up in recent years, and are now fairly hard to find on the market. I would value this one in the $500-$700 range.
