Item Description

Generally, a good number of people associate the minerals of Arizona with secondary ore species, and I imagine that safe to assume that most people don't immediately think about Garnet when it comes to minerals of the Grand Canyon State. The highly distinctive Andradite Garnets from the Stanley Butte area are some of the most easily recognizable examples of any Garnet species from anywhere in the United States, or the world for that matter. Their characteristic and alluring brownish-green to olive-green color and semi metallic luster are a dead giveaway for the locality. There are not many Garnets that come close to resembling these pieces. This specimen hosts a rich coverage of fine, sharp, well-formed, brownish-green dodecahedra of Andradite which measure up to 8 mm across, with no real matrix to speak of. Very little damage can be seen A lovely specimen of these well known Garnets from Arizona.
