Item Description

Red Andradites, particularly when a nice wine-red color, are quite rare, and these came out of a small but significant find in the early 1980s. The satiny luster on these sharp Andradites gives them nice 'body' visually, and with crystals up to 1.2 cm across, they are among the largest and most compelling found at Kuruman. Not isolated and individual crystals like you sometimes see, these well-formed Andradites form a rich, balanced plate, and the deep glow from the moderate translucence adds even more to this miniature's very fine quality. These remain unequaled to my knowledge for the Kalahari Manganese Field, and are certainly rarely seen for sale.
