Item Description
A rarely seen example of crystallized Andradite Garnet from Franklin featuring sharp, very well-formed, lustrous, smooth dodecahedral crystals of a dark reddish-brown hue. Individual crystals measure up to 2.6 across. Good quality for the material, though the crystals are not completely damage free. Very hard to find on the market. It certainly would make a rare addition to a Garnet suite or a worthwhile piece to put in your Franklin collection. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ).
