Item Description
Sharp, lustrous, partially translucent, rich mottled reddish-brown, almandine garnet trapezohedrons form an impressive large 3-dimensional specimen from this famous pegmatite, the first commercial mica mine in the US, started before 1810! The imposing large crystal on the left is 3.3 cm and the back of the piece is pearlescent muscovite plates. Almandine specimens from the Ruggles are RARE and this is an outstanding large example. Exceptional older material from the Robert Whitmore Collection. A MUST for the locality or species collector. Value??
