Item Description
The Stanley Butte area is a famous locality for Andradite Garnets in Arizona. These distinctive and beautiful crystals are easily recognizable, and Andradite is not a species that most people think of when it comes to Arizona minerals (which is typically best known for secondary ore minerals). The vast majority of the specimens from this area ONLY feature Andradite, typically in tightly intergrown groups. This small cabinet specimen is filled with textbook, euhedral dodecahedrons measuring up to a 1.6 cm across, which is larger than most you'll find from the locality. The crystals have a rich greenish-golden hue when backlit, and like many pieces from this locality, there is an almost pseudo-metallic luster on the surface. A very nice piece (with very little damage) for any fan of worldwide Garnets, or minerals from Arizona.
Ex Les Presmyk / De Natura specimen.
