Item Description
These Andradite Garnet specimens from Stanley Butte are some of the most easily recognizable examples of the species out htere. They have a distinctive brownish-green or olive green color and semi-metallic / iridescent luster, which are a dead giveaway for their origin. This specimen is a nice display piece of this famous material featuring many sharp, lustrous dodecahedra of Andradite with virtually no damage, forming a stalactite-esque display piece. The largest crystal measures 1.6 cm across. The majority of the crystals are undamaged, and the piece can be displayed from multiple angles. A great quality specimen of these well known Garnets from Arizona. Valued at $1,300 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
