Excellent set of Andradite Garnets, on matrix. The adamantine luster is superb, and the largest of the brownish-green Andradites reaches and impressive 1.3 cm across. Sitting on top of a gemmy, crystalline matrix, this make a very fine miniature. At issue here is the location. Kay's label (#2129) says Tange Ashin, which is definitely in Iran, but she says this is in Afghanistan. Marki Khel in Afghanistan also produces Andradites of very similar quality on a similar matrix to Tange Ashin, so we are caught in the middle here. Nonetheless, the specimen itself is quite good, as you can see.
