Andalusite (var: Chiastolite) (ex Jim Houran Collection)

Item Description

A classic example from one of the famous Lancaster Chiastolite localities in Massachusetts. This stone is a sliced crystal of the variety of Andalusite known as Chiastolite and features the textbook "cross"-shaped form which is separated by dark colored inclusions of carbon. These slices are the best way for collectors to view the unique shape of these crystals. Fine examples of Chiastolite have been found all over the world, but the specimens from Massachusetts are some of the most well-known specimens / stones out there. From the collection of Dr. James "Jim" Houran, noted thumbnail mineral collector, gemstone collector and a speaker at our annual Dallas Mineral Symposium.
