Item Description
Old-time and classic, this cluster of prismatic, gray to olive-brown Andalusite crystals is from the famous Austrian locality of Lusens Valley, Tyrol. The terminated crystals reach 2.5 cm, and they rest in a biotite schist, which you would expect for this metamorphic mineral. The prismatic Andalusites are lustrous and have sharp form, which is especially good since it is commonly thought that many of these crystals have been pseudomorphed to Pinite. Definitely one of the better ones of these I have seen, not only for the definition of the crystals but the abundance of Andalusites in the cluster. Formerly in the collection of noted Italian collector, Roberto Palumbo. Old labels included. From the noted historic classics collection of Richard 'Dick' Hauck of New Jersey.
