Item Description

An old-time, classic cluster of blocky, gray to olive-brown andalusite crystals on matrix from a famous Austrian locality - Lusens Valley, Tyrol. The striking large crystal is 6.0 x 3.1 x 2.8 cm and is nicely accented by smaller crystals. The andalusites are lustrous and are partially translucent. The crystals are probably pseudomorphs of pinite after andalusite. The contacting, with no damage, per se, is noted on the large crystal, but has only minimal impact on the fine quality of this classic specimen. Ex Rolf Wein Collection # 8179, a noted Alpine specialist and obtained at the Zurich Show in 1971. Valued at $1000.
