Item Description
Fine crystallized Andalusite is not seen from many localities around the world. The area around Jenipapo has given collectors a small amount of fine crystallized Andalusite from around 10 years ago. This piece features a sharp, well-formed, orthorhombic crystal of pinkish-brown Andalusite. The crystal looks opaque on the surface, but when it's backlit, it actually show a slight internal pinkish-yellow-green color. The piece is not 100% perfect, but most of the Andalusites I've seen from this locality are broken "chunks" with no crystal faces whatsoever. It should be noted that Andalusite is somewhat pleochroic, so when the crystals are rotated in the light, you can see a slight color change. A great opportunity for a collector to pick up a good quality Andalusite from this well known locality.
