Item Description
Fine crystallized Andalusite is not seen from many localities around the world. The area around Jenipapo has given collectors a small amount of fine crystallized Andalusite from around 10 years ago. This piece features a few sharp, well-formed, orthorhombic crystals of pinkish Andalusite measuring up to 4.2 with minor Quartz and Mica to create this attractive small cabinet specimen. The crystals look opaque on the surface, but when they're backlit, they actually show a slight internal pinkish-yellow color. The piece is not 100% perfect, but it's still a fairly good quality crystal for what it is. It should be noted that Andalusite is somewhat pleochroic, so when the crystals are rotated in the light, you can see a very slight color change. A great opportunity for a collector to pick up a good quality Andalusite from this well known locality.
