Item Description
Fine crystallized Andalusite is not seen from many localities around the world. The area around Jenipapo has given collectors a small amount of fine crystallized Andalusite from around 10 years ago. This piece features a sharp, well-formed, orthorhombic crystal of pinkish Andalusite to form this attractive thumbnail specimen. The crystal looks opaque on the surface, but when it's backlit, it actually shows a slight internal pinkish-yellow color. The piece is not 100% perfect, but it's still a fairly good quality crystal for what it is. It should be noted that Andalusite is somewhat pleochroic, so when the crystals are rotated in the light, you can see a slight color change. A great opportunity for a collector to pick up a good quality Andalusite from this well known locality.
