Item Description
An old-time, classic pair of blocky, gray to olive-brown andalusite crystals on quartz and biotite schist matrix from a famous Austrian locality - Lusens Valley, Tyrol. The terminated crystals reach 5.6 cm. The andalusites are lustrous and are partially translucent. The crystals are probably pseudomorphs of pinite after andalusite. Ex E.R. Chadbourne Collection, a prominent New England collector (1855->1932).
