Anatase with Quartz

In the early 2000s, there was a find of superb "Alpine-type" quality Brookite and Anatase specimens from the Balochistan Region of Pakistan. The Anatase specimens found at this locality are some of the finest quality pieces found in the modern era of minerals. They are similar in style and quality to the best examples from Alpine localities in Norway and throughout Europe. This particular specimen features a few very sharp, highly lustrous, well formed tetragonal crystals of Anatase with a nice metallic steel blue color that can be seen just under the surface of the crystal when viewed in strong lighting. The largest crystal measures 6 mm long and is associated with Quartz and minor Albite on matrix creating a very attractive small cabinet display specimen. One of the Anatase crystals has a "crack" running through it, which was actually caused by tectonic activity underground while the crystal was forming, and it separated, but partially healed ("re-healed"), leaving a little scar behind. Very little on this material is available on the market these days
