Item Description

Anatase crystals from the famous Binntal in Switzerland are some of the most attractive and beautiful examples of the species out there. They are incredibly hard to find on the market these days, but I always get excited when I see one. This thumbnail specimen is a sharp, well-formed crystal with a beautiful internal orange-golden color and a pyramidal tetragonal habit. This material used to be called "Wiserine", which specifically referred to the pyramidal habit crystals of a golden to brown hue, and was almost exclusively used for the Alpine crystals. If you collect Anatase, thumbnails or classic minerals from the world famous Binntal, don't miss out on this beautiful and hard to find crystal that dates back many decades if not further. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9570). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
