Anatase on Smoky Quartz (gwindel)

Textbook, sharp, striated, translucent, anatase crystals to 1.0 cm are attractively set, mostly on the crest, of this fine gemmy smoky quartz gwindel from the Dodo Mine. The gemmy, water-clear crystal has fine smoky color with some of the faces being lightly frosted. Complete all-around. One end is lightly dinged and a bit of contacting is noted on one side. This remains a very fine and uncommon example of the combination species from this locale. An excellent gwindel of Swiss Alpine quality from the equivalent environment in Russia. These were mostly mined in the 1980s-early 1990s. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this at $450 over five years ago.
