Anatase is not often seen in cabinet sized display specimens, but in the early 2000s, we started seeing some excellent examples of crystallized Anatase on matrix coming out of the Balochistan area of Pakistan. These are "Alpine-type" specimens on par with true Alpine specimens from various European localities These particular Anatase specimens are some of the finest quality pieces to be found in the modern era of minerals. This piece features a few very sharp, highly lustrous, well formed, tetragonal crystal of Anatase with a very dark metallic, steel-blue color that can be seen just under the surface of the crystal when viewed in strong lighting associated with translucent white/colorless Quartz crystals and tiny bladed Albite crystals on matrix. The largest Anatase crystal measures 6 mm. Most of the crystals are in good shape, though I can see some tiny roughness on a few of them with a loupe. This is a good quality example of this modern material, and it's truly on par with the classic specimens from Norway with regard to quality.
