Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, parallel-growth sheaves of green anapaite crystals are attractively set in the partially filled fossilized mollusc shell in ironstone matrix on this classic from the Ukraine. This locality is now mined through and fine specimens like this are hard to obtain today. Anapaite, a phosphate, is found in lacustrine (lake) sediments. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
