Item Description

Perhaps the best known examples of Anapaite are from the Kerch peninsula, Crimea, Ukraine. These pieces along the specimens from the Zheleznyi Rog locality in Russia are certainly the finest examples of this calcium iron phosphate around. It's remarkable to think that this species has been known for over a century, but both the Russian and Ukranian specimens are still the top examples of the species out there. Here we have a wonderful small cabinet display specimen featuring many good crystallized layered groups of soft green colored Anapaite measuring up to 1.0 cm long sitting on oxidized matrix. The Anapaite groups are pretty gemmy when backlit, and look beautiful up close. Most of them are undamaged, though there are a few contacts here and there. The piece comes from the famous Fersman Mineralogical Museum in Moscow.
