Item Description
Some of the most well-known examples of this calcium iron phosphate are found at the Zheleznyi Rog locality in Russia, but the pieces from Kerch peninsula, Crimea, Ukraine are certainly just as famous in my mind. The species gets its name from the town of Anapa in Russia on the north east coast of the Black Sea. This species has been known for over a century, and both the Russian and Ukranian pieces are the top representations out there. This piece features a 1.1 cm brilliant green layered group of Anapaite sitting on the typical on matrix. The color is electric, and it GLOWS when the piece is backlit. The specimen comes with a label from Dr. Petr Sztacho of the Czech Republic.
