Item Description

Some of the most well-known examples of this calcium iron phosphate are found at the Zheleznyi Rog locality in Russia, but the pieces from Kerch peninsula, Crimea, Ukraine are certainly just as well-known. The species gets its name from the town of Anapa in Russia on the north east coast of the Black Sea. This species has been known for over a century, and both the Russian and Ukranian pieces are the top representations out there. This piece features a 6 mm brilliant green layered group of Anapaite sitting on the typical fossil mollusk shell on matrix.
