Item Description
This is a fine Analcime specimen from Isle of Skye in Scotland. The basalt matrix is richly covered with Analcimes of all sizes, with several reaching a maximum size of 1.5 cm. This is finely crystallized material from a historic locale, seldom seen for sale. The modified trapezohedral crystal forms are classic for Analcime, and the high luster complements the translucent-to-gemmy interiors nicely. There are even acicular crystals of Laumontite on exposed matrix that add to the visual and mineralogical interest. Better in person. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection.
