Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Analcime from the obscure "Great Notch" Quarry (Francisco Bros. Quarry) in Littlle Falls. This piece comes from the noted trap rock mineral collection of Rich Kosnar. It features seveal fine, sharp, lustrous, white trapezohedra of Analcime sitting on a "glove" or "fan"-shaped cast of Quartz after Anhydrite. Associated Quartz and Calcite along with a little basalt can be seen as well on the reverse side of the specimen. Pieces from this locality are few and far between, and this is the only Analcime from Great Notch that I've had to offer in the auctions. The largest crystal measures about 5 mm, and most of the crystals are somewhat translucent and not opaque.
