Analcime on Calcite - superb thumbnail specimen

Lustrous and translucent-to-gemmy, this trapezohedron habit is classic for the zeolite Analcime, and it is from the Croft Quarry in Leicestershire, England. Slightly elongated, which makes the habit even more interesting and distinctive, the main crystal is 1.6 cm tip-to-tip, and it is accompanied by a matrix of smaller Analcimes on fluorescent Calcite. Collected in 1976, it is hard to imagine a more desirable miniature with the way the major crystal is so aesthetically perched atop the Analcime/Calcite stalk. The optics of the Analcime practically floating in mid-air allow you to appreciate the crystal in a way you don't often see. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. This is a world class analcime thumbnail specimen, aside from the locality value!
