Analcime (fine rare locality specimen)

Item Description

This is a very significant and important rare example of Analcime from the Big Rock Quarry in Little Rock, Arkansas which is owned by the 3M company (which actually stands for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company). We've never had a piece of this material to offer in the auctions, and a quick search on mindat.org reveals there are only two photos of Analcime in the database, and they're MICRO specimens! This piece is a full-sized cabinet that is loaded with plenty of eye-visible crystals measuring up to 1.4 cm across. The Analcimes show classic trapezohedral crystal from with sharp, well-formed, lustrous faces and a bit of translucency when backlit. The crystals are white/colorless, and most of them are undamaged. A really impressive locality piece, and a must-have example for anybody who collects zeolites or minerals from the southern United States. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas.
