Analcime (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Please note, this specimen came with a label that says the original label was lost by "customs", and it states that it's "probably from Bohemia - Salesel near Usti". Now Salesel is not actually in Bohemia, but Analcime is reported from the locality. With that said, the piece features attractive, sharp, lustrous, translucent, white / colorless trapezohedral crystals of Analcime measuring up to 3 mm associated with tan groups of what could be Datolite or Apophyllite according to the label, but neither species is reported from Salesel, so they could be Calcite or Chabazite. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
