Item Description
This gem was cut by Brett Kosnar in August of 2010. This is a unique variety of Quartz from the finest occurrence in the world. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color gem that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones. This particular gem is a great, one-of-a-kind, excellent quality, nearly 50/50 purple/yellow bicolor, virtually eye clean "Modified Square Cushion" cut gemstone. This is a beautiful stone and when Ametrine is well cut, it looks amazing. The MOST IMPORTANT aspect of this gem is the fact that the purple and yellow colors alternate on ALL FOUR CORNERS of the gem! This is exceptionally rare to see in an Ametrine, and should not It has come to my attention that the mine is no longer in production of this material and the market has quickly "dried up". Don't miss this opportunity to own a unique, colorful, large, naturally occuring gemstone. Valued at $272.80 retail, and looks much better than the photos might indicate!
