Item Description
A great three piece rough and cut set of naturally occuring bicolor Ametrine from the only place in the world where it's found. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. This set includes a crystal, a polished slab, and a gemstone. The crystal is a beautiful example of crystallized Ametrine, with the typical surface etching, near water-clear clarity and beautiful internal color, but the most interesting aspect is that it shows a very rarely seen "c" 0001 pinacoid face, which is almost never observed in Quartz crystals. The accompanying polished slab shows the classic radiation pattern with the aforementioned alternating purple and yellow wedges (like a gamepiece from Trivial Pursuit). The center of the slab is completely water-clear and vibrant. Lastly we have a very good sized "Emerald" cut gemstone with nearly eye clean clarity and great color. All in all, this is the a great representation of this beautiful variety of Quartz. It should be noted that the yellow Citrine in Ametrine is one of the few cases where we find gem quality Citrine that is not heated or irradiated to create the color. The set is priced at $1850.
