Item Description

A good crystal of naturally occuring bicolor Ametrine from the only place in the world where it's found. Ametrine is a purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. I have seen hundreds of Ametrine crystals from this locality, and the majority of them are heavily etched, and rarely even retain their original hexagonal form. I've seen plenty of un-etched regular Amethyst crystals, but it is EXCEPTIONALLY RARE to find euhedral, sharp, quality crystals of actual Ametrine from Anahi. It's clearly Ametrine as you can see the purple Amethyst and yellow Citrine with backlighting. Were it not for the contact on the termination, and a few other nicks, the piece would be damage free. It should be noted that the yellow Citrine in Ametrine is one of the few cases where we find gem quality Citrine that is not heated or irradiated to create the color.
