Item Description

A wonderful crystal of naturally occuring bicolor Ametrine from the only place in the world where it's found. Ametrine is a purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. I have seen hundreds of Ametrine crystals from this locality, and the majority of them are heavily etched, and rarely even retain their original hexagonal form. This piece is sharp and un-etched on the termination, which is rare for the material in my experience. It's clearly Ametrine as you can see the purple Amethyst and yellow Citrine with backlighting. Please note, the termination appears to show a rare "c" face, but it's unfortunately a contact, and not a crystallize face. Even if there's a little bit of edge wear here and there, this is still a very worthwhile example of the material. It should be noted that the yellow Citrine in Ametrine is one of the few cases where we find gem quality Citrine that is not heated or irradiated to create the color. Weight is 166 grams.
