Ametrine is a unique, naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety of Quartz where two separate, individually colored, sections of a crystal are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are then oriented to cut the famous bi-color gemstones. The stones from Bolivia are NATURAL in color, but beware of the synthetics on the market that claim to be natural stones. There's nothing wrong with buying a synthetic gem, as long as you KNOW it's synthetic. This particular stone is a beautiful, well cut, 30/70 yellow and purple bi-color gem with a classic "emerald" cut. It's virtually eye-clean and would make a great center stone for jewelry or it could sit alone as an addition to your gem collection.
