Ametrine is a unique variety of naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-colored Quartz. The premier locality for this material is the Anahi Mine in the eastern rain forest of Bolivia. Ametrine crystals feature two separate individually colored sections forming an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented to cut the bicolor gemstones, This particular gem is an attractive, well cut, 95/5 yellow/purple bi-color, virtually eye clean, "Quantum Round Brilliant" cut gemstone. The majority of the stone is yellow but there is a very slight amount of purple in one corner. It has come to my attention that the mine is no longer in production of this material and the market has quickly "dried up".
