Item Description
Ametrine is a unique, completely natural bi-colored variety of Quartz, primarily found at the Anahi Mine in Bolivia. This mine lies in the eastern Bolivian jungle, and despite popular belief, they are not mined in Brazil. Other reports of Ametrine have been made from a handful of sources around the world, but the primary source of these classic and distinctive stones is Bolivia. There are few gems in the world that are found in naturally occurring bi-colored stones, and Ametrine is one such gem. The material gets its name from the combination of purple AMEthyst and yellow citRINE within in the same stones. The two separate individual colors are naturally intergrown within the crystals to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones. This particular gem has a unique "Concave Spinning Trillion" cut with a wonderful mix of yellow and purple hues along with superb internal clarity. This is a truly beautiful stone and when Ametrine is well cut, it looks amazing. It has come to my attention that the mine is no longer in production of this material and the market has quickly "dried up". Don't miss this opportunity to own a unique, colorful, naturally occurring/untreated gemstone.
