Item Description
This is a unique variety of Quartz from the finest occurrence in the world. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented to cut the famous bicolor gemstones. Here we have a natural, GEM quality, colorful bi-color purple and yellow, hydrothermally etched crystal of Ametrine with a rarely seen "c" 0001 pinacoid face at the end of the termination. This face is almost never observed in Quartz crystals. A very cool and completely unique example of this material that is only found in one place in the world like this! The entire crystal is essentialy water-clear and with the one-of-a-kind etching pattern, would make a splendid addition to any collection. Weight = 47.87 grams.
