This is a unique variety of Quartz from the finest occurrence in the world. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented to cut the famous bicolor gemstones. Here we have a natural, colorful bi-color purple and yellow crystal group of Ametrine from this famous locality. A very cool and completely unique example of this material that is only found in one place in the world like this! A little bit of damage, but it's so beautiful when backlit and becoming difficult to find on the market these days. Weight = 555 grams.
