Item Description

This is a unique variety of Quartz from the finest occurrence in the world. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented to cut the famous bicolor gemstones. Here we have a very gemmy, natural, bi-color purple and yellow, hydrothermally etched crystal of Ametrine with rarely seen "c" 0001 pinacoid faces at the ends of the termination, which is almost never observed in Quartz crystals. A very cool and completely unique example of this material that is only found in one place in the world like this! It should be noted that naturally occuring Citrine is hard to find, and the material from Anahi is some of the best natural gem yellow Quartz in the world. The entire crystal is VERY GEMMY and with the one-of-a-kind etching pattern, would make a splendid addition to any collection. The piece does have a saw mark on the bottom. Weight = 267 grams. Valued at $1200.
